Varnish or Oil Finish
Varnish or Oil? Choosing what product to finish your floor with can be a difficult choice with each having very different properties and each giving their own unique finished look.
Here at Floor Sanding Partners Limited, our choice of varnish/lacquer is Bona Mega. After using a wide range of products over the years and getting to grips with what kind of quality to expect, discovering Bona meant we had found a clear winner in the floor finishing department!
From very first use, the ease of application was immediately apparent and it's super quick drying time ensures it saves both the customer and us valuable time, meaning you can resume your normal home activities in next to no time. Bona Mega lacquer has excellent floor levelling properties ensuring a smooth, even result every time. Our customers choose a lacquer finish as they wish to protect their floor with a high quality seal that is extremely durable and easy to clean.
Bona Mega floor varnish is a clear product and comes in either Matt, Satin or Gloss finish.
Osmo Polyx - Oil is our alternative floor finishing choice.
Osmo Polyx - Oil (hardwax oil) is derived from natural oils and waxes to offer a high quality and durable protective floor finish.
Applying an oil to bare sanded pine floorboard gives a very different look to a lacquer finish as the oil gives a warm, rich tone to the floor while emphasising the beauty of the natural wood grain.
Oil finishing your floor will mean setting aside additional time to allow your floor to dry. We apply 2 x coats of Osmo Polyx - Oil and each coat will need typically 12-24 hours to dry.
We have samples of both OsmoPolyx - Oil and Bona Mega laquer on oak and pine floorboards for your viewing choice here in our showroom at 144 Portland Road in Hove BN3 5QL.
Osmo Polyx - Oil comes in either Matt or Satin finish.
